from the editor:
after three months our invitation for writing and art on the theme of ancient has now closed. this time, i intentionally chose a longer span to meet new writers and artists over different platforms and their work. and myself and our contributing editors have been soaking in your poetry, prose and stories, filled with ancient motifs, experiences, inventive images and language. we have been gathering fragments of history and prehistory. each piece a priceless artefact. the art we have chose to mirror these are a selection of painters, collagists, illustrators and textile artists that sing of the theme and the particular passions of the team here at the winged moon.
it has also been a time where we have been re-evaluating the way we publish. is this platform the best way to showcase the work sent to us? we, after long contemplation, have decided to shift gears slightly, publishing our bi-annual magazine on our website (that includes our upcoming ANCIENT issue) and using this space as a weekly magazine. this will allow us to share other kinds writing and media that we might not publish in our bi-annual offering. i’ll say more about that..
originally this space grew from a personal writing space to a magazine and for those of you who came for the original, there will always be writing to inspire, and i intend to also share ‘field notes’ from my month. for those who have come recently for the magazine, please do stay, as each week we will be sharing curated micro magazines. perhaps you love creative non fiction, stories, hybrid works, videos, artist features, occasional book reviews. we will be opening submissions for that in the summer.
we will launch this in entirety soon and welcome any message or question.
