searching inside all there is. the reddening bride. a shadow looms across the byre. winter rests in the moth’s mouth. a part of me, quivering.
these last two weeks have been as a fever dream. disorientating yet regenerative. like lightning across my consciousness. it is astonishing what too many projects, a birthday and a week long flu will peel from your identity. old worn faces, no longer needed. and now, i am not entirely sure who i am anymore.
yet the miraculous welcome back to the forest, was the greatest tonic. we discovered a new path in our close and familiar wood. we encountered the two bulls of the highlander herd. sunning themselves, almost invisible in the golden of the hay. the silence rippled out towards us. our faces went slack and goofy with joy. and the horses were not to be forgotten walking out beside me on the dampening path. our eyes met and moved me into so many tears.
and everywhere, everywhere are migrating birds. starlings are continuing to gather their murmurating beauty. and this weekend our home has been resident to the eastern black redstart. a tiny flame chested wonder on its way south. the streets around populated by crowds of bird watchers, cameras out ready for their crimson magic.
and i write a little poem today, my first attempt at writing since my recovery. bird dreams. replete with flight and true identity.
dreams; hen harriers, beak, wing and underwing underweb of story flap. an inundation of the strange the real face of myself all the while invoking the wind to flight
and a reading too. of a piece i have written for a creative writing education I am swimming in at the moment. we were asked to write a 1st person narrator looking back. I descended into Bronze Age Scotland and a seer/wise woman. I hope you enjoy it.
over the winds

What a beautiful evocation of a life that's fully lived. Your reading is so engaging! And I love the little horse made of acorns, is that what they are? Very in keeping with the story you wrote.
Love how you bring the magic of the world into your words… love 💕 this and such beautiful images ❤️
